Web Based Resources

Information is Power!
Search engines only scratch the surface, and many sites available herein
cannot be found on any single search engine. These web sites
that are listed are meant to be a starting point for finding useful information
on the Internet, especially useful for faculty and teachers who require
students to complete web site analysis assignments. This is not
a comprehensive listing, but rather an attempt to gather some of the
most representative sources for information within each discipline.
The number of websites grows by the thousands each year and the number
that die by the hundreds. This should serve as a gateway to
research information on the Internet. Go to our "Search
Engines" page to continue beyond the sites contained herein.
Please e-mail us if you find a dead link at lewarmstrong(at)hotmail.com

Why Web Based Resources!
The idea for Web Based Resources started with creating a web
page of psychology links in 1999 to support library instruction.
With the creation of that page, it seemed logical to create pages for other
academic areas. A proposal to create a site called Web Based Resources,
which included Reference Student Assistants to help build and update pages,
was approved by the Library Director, Jud Copeland, in the fall of 1999.
The work progressed to where it was in May of 2001, residing on the library
server at http://library.emporia.edu/libsv/ejw/index.htm. Due
to position changes as a result of Strategic Planning, the student assistance
support was lost, and it was required that Web Based Resources be
moved off the library server. So it now resides at the current address
of http://ejw.i8.com Without
question, web page builders may link Web Based Resources or any
individual page or may borrow any links they if they like. This site
is not copyrighted so that individuals can use the resources in any way
they choose, for most webmasters want their sites for users to access and
explore. There will be dead links found, so please let me know
when that occurs with an e-mail at lewarmstrong(at)hotmail.com. However,
in 2002, links to archive sites were added to the bottom of the pages.
This allows users to search for earlier versions of dead web sites from
with one of archive sites.

Comments About Web Based Resources!
From Folks outside the University
Well, I really DID go and look...and it's a splendid resource! You
really have given me a wonderful web link with your page, one that I'll
use for a long time to come. Thank you. You'll probably chuckle when I
tell you that I had bookmarked your site the day you gave it to me...I'm
chagrined that it took me so long to plumb its depths.
Kind regards,
Kate
I was looking at your http://www.emporia.edu/libsv/ejw/index.htm page
and found it quite interesting.

Hi Lewis,
I read your note on the OFFCamp list and quickly looked at your web
page on electronic journals and web sites. It’s really impressive.
I'd like to refer my LIB101 (Introduction to Library Research) students
to your web page. Please let me know if I can link to it from my web-based
course. The course is password restricted to enrolled students.
Regards,
Holly
Wow! What a great site. I'm a nearly-graduated SLIM student
in Oregon and have passed these lists on to the entire staff of the library
where I work and there have been many positive comments. Thanks for
putting these together!

Thanks for the opportunity. These are the links I provide (I
haven't checked them lately, but nobody's commented). You may find
some additional. http://www.emporia.edu/idt/seguin/it743resources/edresources.htm
Your compilation is overwhelming...and I've been meaning to list it
for my class. I'll do it for next semester.
Thanks,

Thanks for your good wishes, Lew. I have passed the word to the Teachers
College. Looks like an excellent resource for our courses. Thanks.
