Ballad of the Fourth Division
Written and sung by Soldiers of the Awards and Casualty Section
4th Administration Company, 4th Infantry Division, 1967

The Famous Fourth Division grew up on the Hindenburg Line
Her famous place in history was born near the bloody red Rhine
Marching across the Argonne, that was quite a reach,
Ivy on our shoulders, white and blacken cross, bound for freedom and home.

The Fighting Fourth Division, first on Utah Beach.
They fought their way to Paris, and across the Siegfried Breach,
Marching on to Berlin, till victory was in reach,
Ivy on our shoulders, white and blacken cross, bound for freedom and home.

The Fighting Fourth Division deployed to Vietnam,
They made their way to the highlands to rout the Viet Cong
Near the Cambodian Border, they fought the NVA
Ivy on our shoulders, and trampled on, bound for freedom and home.

The Famous Fourth Division fought through history,
Where every man of reckon, “We will fight for liberty”
Marching on to greatness, fighting by God
Ivy on our shoulders, steadfast and loyal, bound for freedom and home.

Ivy on our shoulders, steadfast and loyal, bound for freedom and home.

This song was sang at the General's Mess once, and then
with a standing ovation, played a second time.
